JUSTICE

Apparently Your Hair Has a VOICE...They Say it Speaks VOLUMES about your person... I've wanted The Justice's aka the Janet Jackson Braids every since I saw Little Neighborhood Gurls in My City wearing them back in '08...I'm not a Huge Fan of Braids because #1 I'm Extremely Tender Headed and #2 I like too change my hair Up and braids take so Long to get done that I literally will have them in my hair forever to avoid taking them out....But when I saw these Little Gurls wearing these big Rope Plaits it took me back to one of my Fave Films Poetic Justice and How Beautiful Janet was in the Movie all time Favorite Janet Look....I thought to Myself Yesss Maybe there Life for Braids after Puberty

I ran this idea by my friends only to recieve side Eyes and No No No's... I heard everything from Don't do that to yourself to FlatOut Laughs..."That's Def a Hood Look and it's Late" was the Synopsis of what was said...

Cut to Fall 2010 Solange Knowles Brings Back the Justice Braids...Tho alot of people clowned her she def gave validity to the Look that had since spread to NY and Philly and many a Blogging Chick... And when I ran the Idea of the style past my friends again I recieved alot of ..."They could Possibly be Flyy" and " I can see U with them"...But now I was questioning whether or not to get them with gradution pending I thought to Myself are they interview friendly what will they "GIVE"... You Know how You get drilled especially at HBCU's about professional appearance and Employable Marketability

Longstory short I went for It and I'm kind of P'd that I waited like forever because ultimately I Love them even though I do kinda fell 15 with them...and I know for every couple people who Love the style their will 3 people thinking I'm yung and thuggin' Lol...Oh well Hair is Hair, U should always have fun with it...I just Might Not interview for a Month or So

Loving My Justice's... #JiggaBoo Status

DC History : For the Record DC started the Turban thing...And in all Honesty it was the Soufside of DC...How many times back in the Day  U would be at the wharf  ( crab legs and shrimp) or at an event at Stadium Armory and you would see a girl or a FEW with Scarfs on...at first you'a be like, " SouthEast gurls sooo rough who they came to fight"...but they would be Fully dressed earrings and their eyeliner and maybe even a red lip under their scarf because they was going to see Rare Essence that Night and they wanted to save their Hairstyle for Later...U'a be like, " Gurrrrl"...But secretly U always thought it was a cute Look But you wouldn’t Dare Wear Ur Scarf off Your Porch... cut to 2010 and it's a worldwide "Trend" to Rock a "Turban" aka  Head Scarf...So yeah that's my spill...I'm from Uptown DC but I give Grace and Attribution where it's DUE...And I Love My City Because We set Trends that the World Follows PS we Always Pay Homage to Our African Heritage On Trend or NOT

It's Women's History Month...Be Phenomenal

(Circa Spring 2010)

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I remember having to read this poem in school and I couldn't get through it without Giggling it was too Intense for me Back then...I couldn't be serious but I was a Girl  then and now I know with all Certainty I am a WOMAN...OMG that realization is too intense with in itself I'm a Black woman at that...Whaaat...Can you Say ALOT...But I wouldn't trade it for the Kings GOLD...Womanhood is so New to Me I fall down weekly and get back up again but strong women don't break even if sometimes they Bend...I fall down I get back Up again...REPEAT...Love to all My STISTAHS okay that's all Lol I'm no
Ms. Angelou just V.

PS. STILL I Rise as You SHOULD
